NAV Glossary
Investment Book of Record (IBOR)

Definition: A centralized, real-time repository asset managers use to get an accurate, intraday view of portfolio positions, cash, and trade activity. The IBOR primarily supports front-office decision-making, enabling portfolio managers to see current exposures and trade accurately throughout the day, as opposed to accounting systems that primarily support the back office.

Example: The front office might consult the IBOR before placing a large order to review the current portfolio (including pending trades) and make sure the new trade does not breach guidelines.
